Let’s celebrate this moment! This alliance could be one of the most important turning points in American culture shift to one of healing health environments vs one that is all too often marked with self destructive environments. A spark we desperately need. A united front against the momentum of average corporate food & “comfort” (eg “no need for a sidewalk or safe bike lane, we’ve got a moving sidewalk and car to take you the few feet away so your feet can go away - don’t need ‘em!”), which conveniently serves corporate pharma. Though now corporate pharma has gone “rogue” with next gen GLP-1 drugs to which I’m sure corporate food execs are saying an equivalent of “et tu Brute?!” - ie finding a way to sell “solutions” to us that are more parasitic to a root cause than addresssing it: our CRRAHP (calorie rich, refined and highly processed) food & beverage saturated environments. Btw, if you know me and The Flex5 Lifestyle, I’m not an “absolute zero tolerance to CRRAHP” food dude. I’m a realist - after all my health and wellbeing company is “Reality Meets Science®” for a reason (zero tolerance is a bridge too far for most of the people open to hearing about Health Longevity & Lifestyle Medicine). But we’re drowning in CRRAHP foods to a destructive fault rather than having it - like Blue Zones do - in very low doses as a “small amount of spice of life”. My trip to Sardinia for Visionalist Entertainment Productions’ PBS documentary “The Embrace of Aging” (where I met my now good friend and Blue Zones founder, Dan Buettner) was marked with an unforgettable food environment moment - see 45 seconds into this video for 15 second clip and post your thoughts on “McDonalds in the mountains”: https://lnkd.in/ebKzhnY8 American College of Lifestyle Medicine
The American College of Lifestyle Medicine and Blue Zones are joining forces to bring a vision of a nation and world of healthier, stronger, and more resilient communities to fruition. The partnership represents a convergence of the expertise delivered by lifestyle medicine-trained and certified clinicians with Blue Zones-proven longevity research and community-based solutions.
